Metorbike celebrates its Sylt premiere at the Northern Lights Store

Metorbike GmbH, the innovative start-up for customisable electric motorcycles Made in Germany, is bringing its unique style to the North Sea. On 24 September 2025, the company will showcase its latest models on Sylt for the very first time. Within the exclusive setting of the Northern Lights Store in Westerland, design enthusiasts, technology aficionados, and individualists will have the opportunity to experience Metorbikes up close.

Die Metorbike-Produktpalette umfasst drei Leistungsklassen, die unterschiedliche Fahrerlebnisse und Führerscheinklassen abdecken.

This special event invites visitors to discover the fascinating blend of iconic café racer design and cutting-edge electric technology. Handcrafted in the company’s manufactory in Meddewade near Hamburg, Metorbikes are renowned for their high degree of customisation and technical sophistication.

“Sylt stands for exclusivity, design consciousness, and a passion for the extraordinary – values that perfectly align with our philosophy,” explains co-founder Marvin Rau. “We don’t create mere means of transport – we create personal statements on two wheels. We are truly excited to showcase our Metorbikes in the inspiring atmosphere of the Northern Lights Store and to connect with people on the island.”

Three models for every rider

The Metorbike range is available in three performance classes, offering different riding experiences and licence requirements:

  • Metorbike Classic 50: Perfect for urban riding, reaching speeds of up to 49.5 km/h with a peak output of 9 kW (12 hp). Can be ridden from the age of 15 with an AM licence, or with a standard car licence (Class B).

  • Metorbike 70 Pro: With a top speed of 70 km/h and a peak output of 11 kW (15 hp), this model is designed for riders with licence class A1 or the B196 extension.

  • Metorbike Max 100: The most dynamic model, capable of 100 km/h with a peak output of 12 kW (16 hp), requiring licence class A1 or B196.

Thanks to their lightweight build (from just 80 kg), all models are highly agile and versatile. They can even be transported on a bicycle carrier, stored in a motorhome garage, or parked inside your living room.

Innovative technology in a classic look

Beneath the retro-inspired design lies state-of-the-art technology. A particular highlight is the optional 360° sound module: with eight selectable engine sounds, it not only delivers a more emotional riding experience but also increases safety in traffic. The volume can be adjusted individually – or muted entirely.

The removable battery is another innovation, easily charged at any household socket. Customers can choose between various battery sizes depending on their desired range (up to 145 km). The batteries are manufactured in Kiel. Other features include efficient motors with energy recuperation, modern braking systems (some with ABS), an intuitive touchscreen display, and RFID key card access.

Metorbike

Individuality as a trademark

Personalisation is at the very heart of Metorbike. Each motorcycle can be tailored to the customer’s personal taste:

  • Paintwork: Almost any colour is possible – from metallic tones to custom logos and patterns. Even a colour match to your own car can be achieved.

  • Seat options: Choose between single or dual seats, upholstered in high-quality leather (also available in vegan versions) or crafted from fine woods such as smoked oak, natural oak, or mahogany.

  • Details: Grips, leather stitching colours and patterns, as well as handlebars, can all be individually configured.

  • Branding: Corporate clients can design Metorbikes as unique company vehicles with custom branding.

  • Handlebars: From a high cruiser bar to a sporty low bar – the choice is yours.

With the online configurator available at metorbike.de, customers can design their very own dream bike.

Varelmann & Varelmann auf Sylt 2025

Rare access to the world of Varelmann & Varelmann

Last weekend, the Northern Lights Concept Store offered a rare glimpse behind the scenes of one of Europe’s most secretive luxury manufacturers.

Numerous guests immersed themselves in the exclusive world of Varelmann & Varelmann, which is otherwise only revealed to a strictly selected clientele. In the workshop of brothers Stefan and Ulrich Varelmann, visionary technology merges with consummate craftsmanship. CNC machines and robotics meet the masterful precision of experienced hands. The result is surfaces of incomparable radiance – made of titanium, brass, stainless steel or gold, refined by the finest cuts, flawless polishing and artistic electroplating. The creations include custom-made fittings, handles and switches as well as hand-polished railings, mirrors, frames and large-scale wall and ceiling coverings. Each piece is a distinctive, one-of-a-kind item, designed for an international elite who value uncompromising quality as much as absolute discretion.

The presentation was accompanied by a culinary programme that was in no way inferior to the standards of the manufactory: champagne from Nicolas Feuillatte, selected Italian fine wines from Piero Massi, artfully created signature cocktails from vice world champion Toddy Tapper and delicious snacks from chef Norbert Tampe.

The result was an overall experience that not only offered a rare glimpse into closely guarded spheres, but also conveyed the feeling of being part of an extraordinary and unrepeatable moment. Those who cannot tear themselves away from the magic of this extraordinary manufacturer will discover an exquisite selection of unique pieces in the Northern Lights Concept Store that make the special tangible.

The fine wines from Piero Massi rounded off the evening at the Northern Lights Concept Store in delightful fashion.

During the event, festival organiser Bernd Breiter presented his latest project: the Smart Rebel Convention is a movement that brings young people together with visionaries to find answers for the future. A journey for all the senses with knowledge, beats and culinary delights.

The SRC will launch in autumn 2025, supported by the European Union, ESA, Deutsche Bahn, Goethe University and the State of Hesse. The kick-off will be an exclusive supporters’ gala on 29 October in Frankfurt am Main, right in the heart of Europe, followed by micro-events in real and virtual space. The 10-day Talks & Beats event series will culminate in the finale on 6 and 7 November.

Chef Norbert Tampe and cocktail vice world champion Toddy Tapper treated the guests to some delicious food and drinks.
