The renowned “Time” magazine recently named Sylt one of the most beautiful places in the world. Miles of beaches with the typical blue and white beach chairs, the Red Cliff, the Ellenbogen and the Wadden Sea make the North Sea island a “picturesque travel destination”. Sylt is considered “the Hamptons of Hamburg”.

Free space for your brand

In a prime location in the middle of Westerland, third-generation entrepreneur Michael Hoppe is using the new concept store at Norderstrasse 29 to offer international brands a new and unconventional presentation area for unique brand experiences starting April 2024. In collaboration with the Cologne brand manager Michael Gleissner, the 300 square meter showroom, a well-known address on Sylt since the 1960s, was created as a sales room for innovative labels that can present themselves to the discerning audience.

The Northern Lights Concept Store offers space to create brand worlds

Labels from all over the world will have the opportunity to set up shop in the new Northern Lights concept store for just three months or up to a year. The focus is on new concepts that also appeal to a young target audience. Michael Hoppe and Michael Gleissner bring with them over forty years of experience in event and brand management on the island of Sylt. The contacts from successful collaborations for experiences from well-known luxury labels – with star cuisine and in upscale hotels – flow into the new concept store concept.

From invitations via newsletter to our top-class group of guests to press contacts throughout Germany to documenting our customers’ presence in text, photos and film, Michael Hoppe and Michael Gleissner support the brands as experienced local partners. If desired, prominent testimonials accompany the experiences to ensure media impact. Michael Gleissner maintains long-standing contacts with TV, radio and print media, which he uses to guarantee customers the right appearance.

Michael Hoppe comments on the unconventional concept:

“As a Sylt native with a deep connection to the island, its residents, guests and the tourist structure, I would like to serve a niche market. The range of free sales rooms on the island is limited. We would like to offer interesting brands the opportunity to present themselves in a contemporary way. We rent out the sales space, establish contacts and use our connections for event concepts beyond the concept store.”

For over ten years, Michael Hoppe has been working in the family business “Appartement- und Möbelhaus Hoppe”, which has been established on the island since the 1960s. The shop featured country house-style furniture and maritime decorative arts. Over the winter it will be transformed into the new Northern Lights Concept Store, which will celebrate its official opening in April 2024.

Michael Gleissner brought his know-how from over 30 years in the luxury automobile industry. He organized B2C events for the world’s best-known supercar labels, which also brought him to Sylt every year:

„The decision to become self-employed in 2020 is based on the promising combination of innovation, passion and potential, a solid foundation for entrepreneurial success. After three summer driving experiences and presentations of start-ups in the investment sector on Sylt between 2021 and 2023, the Northern Lights Concept Store will expand our presence on the island from 2024 onward. With Michael Hoppe, whom I have known and respected for many years, we are introducing a new concept for lead acquisition for high-profile brands.”
